Cate Blanchett Nicole Kidman, Happy to Be Licked

Nicole Kidman, Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett and Geoffrey Rush all have Oscars in common – and now each member of the Australian quartet can boast another distinction: They all appear on special edition 55-cent (about 35 cents U.S.) postage stamps in their native country.


"Something like this – when you see your face on a stamp – says 'wow,' " Kidman, 41, is quoted as saying by the BBC.

She added that she is particularly delighted that her children will one day "lick a stamp, put it on an envelope and say, 'That's my mum.' "

Blanchett, 39, said the honor made her feel "utterly, deeply humbled … I'm going to be licked by millions of Australians and I can't wait."

All except for Kidman, the honorees were onstage Down Under for the unveiling of the stamps, which show each star in two guises: in character for their Oscar-winning roles (Kidman for The Hours, Blanchett for The Aviator, Crowe for Gladiator and Rush for Shine) and as their glamorous selves.

At the ceremony, Crowe, 44, suggested that the tribute was for all of his fellow countrymen – "a celebration of us," he said – while Rush, 57, noted that when he was growing up in the '50s and '60s, "the only person on a stamp was the Queen.

At the recent opening of the blockbuster film Australia, Cindy Adams of The NY Post chatted it up with Nicole Kidman. The topic at hand? Getting her body back after giving birth to baby Sunday.

When asked how she managed to drop the weight, Nicole admitted that she still has some work to do in that department. "It's not all off. I gained 30 pounds, most of which was in breast milk, and losing that weight has taken five months," she said.

She even offered up her secret to looking thin, saying: Remember two years ago my dress was so tight I couldn't sit down? Tonight's makes me look slim, but only because it's looser. The key to looking thinner? Wear a looser dress."

If only it were that easy, everyone would just wear baggy dresses to the Oscars and call it a day. Like that would ever happen.

A dip in waterfall made Kidman pregnant

Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman has attributed her "miracle pregnancy" to a dip in a waterfall in Australia's famous remote location Outback.

Kidman believes a plunge into the Kununurra waters may have contributed to her unexpected pregnancy and that of six other women who worked on her latest epic film, Australia.

It was during the production of this movie that she became pregnant with her first child, daughter Sunday Rose with husband Keith Urban.

"I never thought that I would get pregnant and give birth to a child, but it happened on this movie," Kidman says in today's The Australian Women's Weekly.

"Seven babies were conceived out of this film and only one was a boy," she gushes.

“There is something up there in the Kununurra water because we all went swimming in the waterfalls, so we can call it the fertility waters now, Kidman told the Australian Women's Weekly.

So were these potent waters also responsible for her extremely tiny baby bump?

"I'm so lucky I'm so tall, so I carried small," she says. "And also, I have to say, I had a birth that I was blessed with, a labor that was very good and a baby that was very good to me in that regard.

Kidman along with former husband Tom Cruise also has two adopted children - Bella and Connor.

"To be given this again is a beautiful thing," she says. "To have raised Bella and Conner since I was 25 and now to be able to do it again at 41 ... wow!"

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban's Low-Key Second Anniversary Celebration

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban kicked off their second wedding anniversary on June 25 in their typical laidback style.

The day began with an early a.m. trip to one of their favorite spots: a Starbucks in Franklin, Tenn. After pulling up in their black Bentley, the couple – dressed in workout gear and baseball caps – strolled inside hand-in-hand and lingered over drinks and a scone.

The twosome then had lunch that afternoon at a local Whole Foods with Urban's songwriter pal Monty Powell and his wife.

By then, Kidman was wearing a flower-print, yellow cotton minidress, and Urban had changed into a blue button-down shirt and jeans.

These days, the expectant parents – whose baby is due "soon," according to Urban – have been doing more than hitting their usual haunts together: They've been taking Lamaze lessons. During a June 24 interview with Nashville's WSIX-FM, Urban initially denied he was in the birthing class, but a surprise phone call revealed otherwise.

"Hi, this is Keith's wife!" Kidman said. "Actually, Keith has been doing Lamaze lessons, he is selling himself short! He doesn't know the name [of the classes] but he has been very good at it!"

Urban (who previously admitted he was learning a new vocabulary for fatherhood) thanked his wife for coming to his defense. "I knew there was breathing involved!" he said.

When Kidman added that she was on her way to the station but was stuck in traffic, radio host Gerry House asked her to stop at a nearby shop and pick him up a salad for lunch. Twenty minutes later, she arrived with a bag in hand.

"Here you go, Gerry – one Woodmont Salad," she said.

House thanked her profusely, but confessed, "I have no intention of eating this. Are you kidding? Lunch delivered by Nicole Kidman? I'm having it bronzed!"
